Charlie’s Chopper Clean Cut is a new spiced rum from Glasgow-based distillery Jacobite Spirits.
Why should I care? It tastes amazing. But we’ll get to that later. What’s really different about this rum is the
package. The full package - a great-tasting drink wrapped up in a revolutionary bottle which helps take care of the planet.
Tell me more? We thought you’d never ask. OK, Charlie’s Chopper Clean Cut is packaged in a premium
sustainable bottle manufactured by O-I, whose Alloa factory is just 30 miles from our distillery. We like to keep
it local. O-I has made some of the iconic bottles for Scotland’s other national drinks - manufacturing both the
Irn-Bru and Coke bottle and plenty of famous Whisky bottles from this historic location.
Get on with it... Sorry, so this bottle uses O-I: EXPRESSIONS technology, which means there’s no label on
the glass. The printing is embossed, making it pleasingly tactile, and the bottle is 100% recyclable, with no
labels or heavy metals (organic inks only). No labels means less waste, while UV curing means there’s less
energy consumption in the printing process. Perhaps most important of all, the bottle is made with 20% less
glass than normal, and around 33% recycled glass. That means it's lighter, less resource-intensive and less energy-intensive - but we’ve stayed classy with the styling!

We’re not quite saving the planet but our “hero” Charlie is laying waste to unsustainable manufacture! Jacobite Spirits is a young company and we’ve tried our best to do things sustainably and source locally, but it’s time to step it up. We can’t just be talking about this or making minor gestures. Don’t just say it, do it - that has to be our approach.
Right, but what’s it like? Charlie’s Chopper Clean Cut has a uniquely zesty and warm taste profile - peppered
with exceptionally clean flavour hits. We make it from scratch in Glasgow - no added sugar and just clean cut
flavour. We think environmentally-conscious bars are going to love it, and their customers, too - no doubt with
a crafty cola or as part of a charming cocktail! We’re confident those flavours we’ve just described will pass the all-important taste test. Thanks to O-I’s technology, it looks fantastic and will be unmistakable to the touch on speed rail - great for bartenders working the fast pours!
